Wildcat Mountain, A Peak - Hiking with Pups (2024)

Wildcat Mountain, A Peak- White Mountains, NH

Wow, hiking the Wildcat Ridge Trail was a lot of fun. It’s a pretty steep trail and it gets steep pretty quick. You gain 1,326 ft in the first mile of the hike. Once you summit Wildcat Mtn, D Peak, it does get less steep. It’s about 2.1 miles between Wildcat A and Wildcat D peaks.

This was a pretty dog-friendly hike. One section I can see older or not as experienced pup struggling with the steep incline on rocks but overall wasn’t bad for the pup at all. Java really enjoyed hanging around Carter Lakes / Carter Notch Hut as it had plenty of water for him to cool down before we continue on to Carter Dome.
