Mandate HSD to Install Weapon Detectors & Train Staff by 2024/2025 school year.

We are calling on the Hermitage School District in Pennsylvania to prioritize student safety by installing weapon detector equipment and providing staff training before the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Due to the nature and imminent threat of the incident on March 18, 2024 at Ionta Elementary School, we call for immediate action. The prevalence of school shootings in America is a stark reality, with over 230 incidents since 2013 (Every town for Gun Safety Support Fund). This petition seeks to ensure that our children are safe in their learning environment. By implementing these measures, we can significantly reduce the risk of such tragic events occurring within our schools. Please sign this petition to urge the Hermitage School District to take immediate action towards enhancing student safety.

Demand the Resignation of Representative Tom Woods for hom*ophobic Remarks

As an LGBTQ resident of Oklahoma, I am deeply disturbed and frightened by the public remarks made by our representative, Tom Woods. His derogatory comments labeling LGBTQ individuals as "filth" have not only caused emotional harm but also foster a hostile environment that threatens our safety. This issue became tragically personal when Nex Benedict, a nonbinary 16-year-old student in Owasso public schools, was killed in a hate crime. This incident is not isolated. According to the FBI's 2019 Hate Crime Statistics report, hate crimes based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity accounted for nearly 20% of all reported hate crimes in the United States (FBI.gov) despite making up just 7% of the population. It is unacceptable that such prejudice exists within our society and even more so within our leadership.Tom Woods' harmful rhetoric contributes to this climate of fear and intolerance. His words are not just offensive; they are dangerous and incite violence against vulnerable communities like ours.We demand his immediate resignation from his position as representative. We deserve leaders who will stand up for all citizens regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Please sign this petition to show your support for equality and respect for all Oklahomans. Together we can send a clear message that bigotry has no place in our state's leadership or anywhere else.

Union And Unity / Return The Denver Union Soldier Monument.

To: Americans and Citizens of the World,We are writing this with the hope that our proposal will resonate with you as profoundly as it has with us. On June 25, 2020, 4 individuals pulled the Civil War monument down at the Colorado State Capitol and fell victim to vandalism; the monument was defaced and torn down, all within a mere 10 minutes. This act not only put an end to its 111 years of dignified display but also highlighted a concerning trend: the dismantling of monuments without a proper grasp of their historical significance. Such actions compromise both education and our understanding of history, sending a dangerous global message that bypassing due process and encouraging lawlessness is acceptable. We Propose that the Colorado Civil War Monument Should Be Returned to its original spot, including Cannons. We Believe crimes of vandalism should not be a platform to create change. We Believe as a symbol Of modern-day liberties and freedoms the monument is an important part of American & Colorado history, and the forceable removal and complacency regarding this travesty undermines the importance of we the people. We believe that there should be a Sand Creek Massacre Monument, Just not to take the place of another. We vow to use our platform and reach to help drive the creation of a Sand Creek massacre memorial. We Believe in more historical context regarding all angles of History Being applied to the monument. We propose to change the plaques to be more inclusive to all those who served in the Civil War including, those who don't get enough recognition like Hispanics, African Americans, Native Americans, Arabs and Asian Americans of all religions fought under one flag for union and unity. We propose changing of the plaques to depict battles in Colorado in the Civil War accurately and truthfully, omitting Sand Creek as a battle as it was a corruption of the original creator's intent. To address this, a plaque was thoughtfully placed at the base of the Civil War Monument at the Colorado State Capitol at the request of descendants of the Sand Creek Massacre. This plaque played a vital role in offering a nuanced perspective, acknowledging the intricate and contentious history and the events it sought to memorialize. Regrettably, this valuable context was overlooked and dismissed by vandals, who, lacking a proper understanding of the monument’s intent and significance, ultimately marred its purpose and message.Gov. Polis issued the following statement about the toppling of the statue:"I am outraged at the damage to a statue that commemorates the Union heroes of the Civil War who fought and lost their lives to end slavery. This statue will be repaired, and we will use every tool at our disposal to work with Denver Police and to hold accountable those responsible for the damage whether they are hooligans, white supremacists, confederate sympathizers, or drunk teenagers. This monument is designed to commemorate Colorado's involvement in the Civil War, of course, Colorado was on the Union side, and it lists a number of names and of infantry that served from Colorado and some battles that took place here during that time," - Gov. Jared Polis. In 2021 it was proposed to replace the monument with a different statue to the Sand Creek Massacre despite the governor's and descendants of the Sand Creek Massacre's earlier wishes. It is our goal to take a stand and preserve the history of our nation and the struggle it took to make it a place where we are able to express our freedoms and beliefs in the way that we do every day.It has now been 4 years with the Colorado Capitol Building Advisory Committee trying to decide what will take the Civil War Monuments place. Urge Congress to Fund Emergency Dredging of the Rocky River in Ohio to improve safety

We the undersigned are residents of Rocky River, OH or the surrounding communities, and like many others we use the Rocky River for recreational or business purposes. However, our safety and enjoyment are increasingly at risk due to the river's deteriorating navigability due to shoaling and receding lake levels. The Rocky River channel is quickly losing its capacity to serve as a Federal harbor of safe refuge because of this issue. The Army Corps of Engineers has the responsibility, expertise, and resources necessary to dredge the river and restore it back to a safe condition - but has not received funding to complete any dredging of the river since 2004. Their most recent soundings indicate that most of the river channel is 3’ to 5’ and 1’ to 3’ in the anchorage basin, well below previous years. These depths make the channel and anchorage unusable for many of the users who access Lake Erie from the multiple marinas located on the river, as well as the over three million visitors to the Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation. The Army Corps of Engineers desperately needs emergency funding from Congress to carry out this critical task. We urge our representatives in Washington to recognize this urgent issue affecting our community and make an emergency declaration to release funds to the Army Corps of Engineers so they can commence their work on dredging the Rocky River immediately.Your signature will help us ensure that our beloved river remains navigable, safe for recreation, and continues serving as a harbor of refuge. Prosecute Individuals for Disturbing Bear Cubs in North Carolina

I am a lifelong animal advocate, residing in the serene mountains of North Carolina, home to beautiful and majestic bears. Recently, an incident occurred that deeply disturbed me - individuals pulled bear cubs from a tree just to take selfies. This act not only disrupts the natural habitat of these creatures but also poses significant risks to their health and well-being.According to the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC), it is illegal and punishable by law to disturb wildlife or their habitats. Despite this, such incidents continue unabated due largely to lack of enforcement and awareness.Bears are an integral part of our ecosystem. It's crucial we respect these animals' rights for our mutual benefit.Gail Thommsen, State Director for the Humane Society of the United States, had this to say about it…“This incident that took place in Asheville, North Carolina is a startling and serious reminder of the severe lack of awareness, caution and respect for wildlife that some can exhibit when chasing opportunities to interact, handle and pose for photos with wild animals," Thomssen said. "The disruption to this mother bear and her cubs, just emerging from hibernation, has resulted in at least one cub being orphaned and separated from the family and possibly another cub being orphaned who remains unfound. The impact to these wild animals is deeply significant and forever life-changing, but it could have also been life-changing for the people who took part in this. Interacting with black bear cubs in any way when the mother is present represents one of the most dangerous human safety situations we can have with this incredible species. It is shockingly irresponsible and part of an unfortunate trend of people interacting with wildlife. It is cruel to the animals and puts the public in harm’s way."These people were told to stop and that what they were doing was illegal by the woman who filmed the incident, but they continued on despite this knowingly breaking the law in order to get a selfie. (for more details and photos of the incident see thisstory)We urge the North Carolina Department of Wildlife Resources to bring charges against those involved in this recent incident involving bear cubs. By doing so, we can send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated. Furthermore, we call on lawmakers to strengthen existing wildlife protection laws ensuring stricter penalties for violators.Help us protect our beloved bears from unnecessary disturbances by signing this petition today!

Keep Natural Grass at Lafayette Elementary

We are the parents of current and former students at Lafayette Elementary in Chevy Chase, DC, and/or neighbors of the school (note: petition was broadened to include non-parent neighbors due to significant neighborhood interest, 4/19/24). We are signing this petition to make clear our concern and opposition to the plans presented by the Department of General Services on March 13, 2024 to replace the lower field at Lafayette with an artificial turf field. We object to the fact that DGS, DCPS, and DPR made this decision internally, without any community engagement, despite the clear requirement they do so under DC law (DC Code Section 10.171.03(h)) and their prior promises to allow for community review and input before reaching a final decision. To install an artificial turf field at an elementary school in 2024, at a time when the health and environmental risks associated with artificial turf (including exposure to PFAS/forever chemicals, dangerously elevated temperatures, and increased severity of injuries and infections) are becoming increasingly recognized, is irresponsible and dangerous. For all of these reasons, numerous other municipalities (including the city of Boston) and professional sports leagues are moving away from or banning artificial turf.As parents, our kids' health and safety is always paramount. However, we very much want them to have a well-maintained and playable field where they can enjoy recess, PE, and extracurricular sports. Luckily, recent advances in establishing and maintaining natural grass athletic fields have proven that it is possible to have high performance fields of natural grass with comparable costs for installation and maintenance.Important decisions about which materials are safest for our children and the environment should not take second place to convenience for our local government. We ask that DGS, DCPS, and DPR learn more about the health questions surrounding artificial turf and the possibilities of using engineered natural grass as a cost-effective alternative. We ask that they comply with DC law by informing and consulting with Lafayette parents and neighbors about this important decision for our community and our children, and that they honor previous commitments to maintain a natural grass field at Lafayette.

Impose Stricter Rules and Penalties on YouTube Channels Engaging in Harassment and Bullying

We are Brooks & Christy Ramsey, creators of the YouTube channel Smoky Mountain Faith Food and Fun, a community of nearly 6000 subscribers. We have been targeted by two separate YouTube channels whose sole purpose is to bully and harass other content creators. Our physical appearance has been mocked, our character attacked, and our faith disrespected. Moreover, we've experienced theft of our original content by these channels who then audaciously filed copyright strikes against us claiming ownership. This kind of behavior is not only unethical but also damaging to the spirit of creativity that should be fostered within platforms like YouTube.YouTube's current policies do not adequately protect its users from such harassment. According to a study by Ditch The Label (2017), 14% of people admitted they have bullied others online - this statistic is alarming considering the potential reach platforms like Youtube provide. We call upon Google and Youtube to implement stricter rules and against bullying behavior on their platform with severe consequences for offenders. These measures could include immediate suspension or permanent banishment for repeat offenders or those found guilty of particularly egregious offenses such as stealing content or filing false copyright claims. This petition aims at creating a safer environment for all creators on Youtube where they can express themselves without fear of harassment or bullying. Relocate Huntsville's Landfill and Sewage Treatment Plant Away from John Hunt Park

As a resident of Huntsville, AL, USA, my family and I have always enjoyed spending time at John Hunt Park. However, our experiences have been marred by the overpowering smell of garbage and human waste emanating from the nearby landfill and sewage treatment plant. This is not only unpleasant but also raises concerns about potential health risks. The landfill and sewage treatment plant are located too close to recreational areas where children play soccer games or families gather for picnics. The proximity of these facilities to populated areas is not just an issue of discomfort; it's a matter of public health.According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), landfills can produce harmful gases like methane which can lead to air pollution if not properly managed (source: EPA). Similarly, improperly treated sewage can contaminate water sources leading to diseases such as cholera or typhoid (source: World Health Organization). Therefore, we are petitioning the city of Huntsville to relocate these facilities away from John Hunt Park and its surrounding residential area. By doing so, we will be protecting our community’s health while also improving our quality of life.We urge you all who care about the well-being of our community in Huntsville - sign this petition today! Let's ensure that visits to John Hunt Park are filled with fresh air rather than foul odors!

Demand Transparency from the Indiana Department of Revenue Regarding Tax Refunds

My name is Alexander Galanis, and like many other Hoosiers, I am still waiting for my tax refund. This delay has caused financial strain and uncertainty in our lives. We believe that we have a right to know if the Indiana Department of Revenue has sufficient funds to pay our tax refunds. In 2019, the Indiana Department of Revenue processed over 3.24 million individual income tax returns with an average refund amount of $382 (source: Annual Report - Indiana Department of Revenue). This implies a significant amount that should be allocated each year for refunds alone. We are calling on the state government to require transparency from the department regarding their ability to pay these refunds promptly. It's not just about getting back what we're owed; it's about ensuring accountability and trust in our public institutions. We urge you to join us in this call for transparency by signing this petition today. Let's hold our government accountable together!

Mandate Boating Safety Education for ALL Boat Operators in Florida

On Sept. 4, 2022, a senseless tragedy unfolded near Boca Chita Key. A 29-foot vessel carrying 14 passengers crashed into a channel marker. The boat capsized, and all passengers were thrown into the water. This accident claimed the life of Luciana "Lucy" Cristina Fernandez, a vibrant young girl who was just 17 years old, and left most of the other passengers injured. In response to this devastating event, Lucy's parents, Meli and Andy Fernandez, established the Lucy Fernandez Foundation, to promote boater and watercraft safety, in an effort to make their daughter's favorite pastime safer for everyone.Currently, Florida law requires only those born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by FWC. We, however, believe that this requirement should be extended to ALL boat operators regardless of age.According to U.S Coast Guard statistics from recent years (source: USCG Recreational Boating Statistics), over half of all fatal boating accidents involve operators aged over 30 - individuals who are not currently required by Florida law to undergo any form of boating safety education.By expanding these requirements, every person operating a boat will be equipped with essential knowledge about safe navigation practices that could potentially save lives in future incidents similar to what happened with Lucy.We urge you today to honor Lucy’s memory by making our waters safer for everyone who loves them as much as she did. Please sign this petition demanding that ALL boat operators in Florida be required by law to complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by FWC.#SignforLu

Save The Windham Path

Walking the Windham Path is one of the rare family-friendly Mountain Top activities that is free and easily accessed. We strongly oppose the Windham Town Board's discussed plans to build a baseball complex within the Windham Path itself. Taking up as much as 10% of the existing property, the complex would include two ballfields, bleachers, dugouts, bathrooms, and parking. Building such a sizable complex would cause the disruption of wildlife; and affect the amazing visual appeal and the quiet, serene natural beauty of the “Crown Jewel of Windham.”There are alternative locations on which to build which have not been fully investigated. We request an open forum with complete transparency from the Town Board, so that the public can be heard and involved in any decisions regarding the future home of the ballfield, including the possibility of a referendum to allow the voters to decide whether to build a ballfield complex within the Windham Path. We, the undersigned, ask that the Windham Town Board leave the Windham Path, a place of harmony and discovery, in its natural state. Please allow us to help you find a different location for the proposed ballfield complex!PS Thank you for signing this petition. Those of us who are involved in preserving the integrity of The Windham Path understand how important the Mountaintop Little League is to the town, the mountaintop, our kids, and the parents. We also understand that in opposing the use the Windham Path for a ballfield complex, we must also help find alternatives. While we would like to work collaboratively with Little League and the town, we are currently working on this and hope to present viable and cost-effective alternatives to building on the Path. There are ballfields in other towns on the mountaintop, but at this point, we are first hoping to cooperate with Little League to see if we can help make the existing ballpark an even better home for the teams, including a plan for more parking on site. The position of Friends of the Windham Path is first and foremost respectful collaboration. We are determined to prevent further disruption and development on the Windham Path and, at the same time, as community members seeking common ground, we are committed to finding an acceptable alternative to building on the Path.

Opposition to Proposed Development in the Wellington Equestrian Preserve

The Wellington Equestrian Preserve is a unique feature of the Village of Wellington. Recognized as a core component of Wellington’s comprehensive land use plan, the Equestrian Preserve consists of 9,000 acres of open green space, bridle paths, show grounds, and low-density housing, all dedicated to foster a pastoral equestrian-oriented community. Currently, there are two proposed amendments to the Wellington Master Plan (2022-0002-CPA and 2022-0002-CPA) that are scheduled for review and consideration by the Village Council and other municipal committees. These amendments, if passed, would allow for substantial residential and commercial development in the Equestrian Preserve that is antithetical to the Village’s long-standing land use plan, opposed by the overwhelming majority of its residents, and would destroy the distinctive character and beauty of the community. We, the undersigned, are opposed to the proposed changes to the Wellington Equestrian Preserve and respectfully urge the Wellington Village Council and other municipal committees to vote “NO” to each and every part of the following proposed land use amendments:Wellington North (the “Lagoon” at Equestrian Village)Comprehensive Plan Amendment 2022-0002-CPAMaster Plan Amendment 2022-0004-MPAandWellington South (the “Estates” at Equestrian Village)Comprehensive Plan Amendment 2022-0003-CPAMaster Plan Amendment 2022-0005-MPA.

Stop the Ban on Short-Term Rentals in Sparta, NJ!

Please sign to support short-term rentals in our community. We are NOT asking for monetary contributions.

We, the residents and property owners of Sparta, NJ, stand together to petition the Mayor and Council of Sparta Township to reconsider the proposed ordinance restricting short-term rentals in our beloved community. We advocate for Sparta Township to fully allow short-term rentals without any minimum stay requirements across all of Sparta. We call the residents and property owners of Sparta to join us at Town Hall on Tuesday, April 23rd at 7 pm to voice your support and help us stop the ban on short-term rentals. Let's protect our property rights as owners and ensure Sparta remains a welcoming community for all.

Why We Oppose the Ban:

The proposed ordinance threatens the fabric of our community and undermines the rights of property owners. By imposing a minimum stay of twenty-eight days and prohibiting advertising, the ordinance unjustly restricts our ability to utilize our properties to their fullest potential.

Preserving Our Heritage and Culture:

Sparta, with its Lake Mohawk community, has long thrived on tourism, since its establishment in the mid-1920s as a resort summer home community. The Lake, Boardwalk, and White Deer Plaza, recognized on the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places since 1988. Sparta boasts several esteemed wedding venues, such as Rock Island Lake Club, Sky View, Perona Farms, and The Lake Mohawk Country Club, which host weddings and special events year-round, drawing visitors from near and far.

Short-term rentals are instrumental in bolstering Sparta's local tourism, supporting thriving businesses, and meeting the needs of local families by providing comfortable and convenient lodging options. These rentals significantly enhance the overall experience for wedding guests and contribute to the success of our local economy.

Supporting Our Residents:

Short-term rentals provide essential income opportunities for residents, including seniors, single-income households, and families facing financial challenges. By allowing homeowners to rent out their properties, we can offset the increasing cost of living and provide much-needed support to those in need.

Economic Benefits for Sparta:

Implementing a fair regulatory framework for short-term rentals would unlock significant economic benefits for Sparta. Furthermore, supporting short-term rentals aligns with Governor Phil Murphy's vision of economic growth, as demonstrated by the success of initiatives like the Garden State Film and Digital Media Jobs Act.

Petition to Rehire Kevin Proctor

Recently we have learned that the CV school district did not renew Kevin Proctor's contract as athletic director. This has come as a shock to anyone who has worked along side him or watched him work. There has been no reason given for this cause of action. Kevin has been highly motivated and dedicated to all the students' best interests not only for sports, but also through numerous clubs. In the past two years, Kevin has made great strides of growth within the CV community. The schools athletics have endured challenging times and he inherited a difficult and challenging situation to get back on track. Many students fondly refer to Kevin as "K-Proct" showing his approachability to the students. In many people's opinion - parents, students, and coaches alike, Kevin is the best thing that could have happened to CVHS sports.Kevin can be seen on the football chain gang if there are not enough volunteers so the game can still happen. He is there, at 9:30pm on a Friday night picking up trash from the bleacher and fields after starting his day at 7am.

In many people's opinion - parents, students, and coaches alike, Kevin is the best thing that could have happened to CVHS sports.

Kevin can be seen on the football chain gang if there are not enough volunteers so the game can still happen. He is there, at 9:30pm on a Friday night picking up trash from the bleacher and fields after starting his day at 7am. He can be found in the weight room with his laptop working away so it can still be open to the students. He recently just went through the hallways recruiting players to make sure there could be a boys tennis team. That is just a fraction of what he has done while AD. He is beyond dedicated in his role and to the school.

We need to gather as a community in support of Kevin Proctor and his job as the athletic director. Please consider emailing the administration and your local school board representative in support and attending the School Board meeting on Tuesday, April 2nd at 7pm.

If you would like to see Kevin Proctor continue to be the athletic director (and more), please consider signing this petition and pass it on asap.

Support Age 67 Pilot Retirement in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2023

We, the senior pilots of all major U.S. airlines, have been the backbone of the Aviation industry for many years and still have much to offer in terms of safety, security and experience. The vast majority of us are Armed Forces Veterans who have served our country in campaigns around the world. Now we find ourselves being pushed towards premature retirement by a younger generation now dominating our unions. We are not obsolete. Our long track record speaks volumes about our commitment to safety and experience; these qualities cannot be replaced overnight by youthful enthusiasm alone. According to a study published by NASA, older pilots performed better over time than their younger counterparts when it came to managing emergency situations (NASA, 2014). This is testament to our worth within this industry. The Pilot Retirement Age Extension included in the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2023 acknowledges this fact and allows us to continue serving safely for longer periods before mandatory retirement age kicks in. However, there are efforts underway within Congress that threaten this provision. We urge Congress not just as pilots, but as veterans who've served this nation with distinction - keep Pilot Retirement Age Extension intact within FAA Reauthorization Act of 2023! Let's ensure that experience continues flying high above America's skies! Sign this petition today if you stand with us on preserving safety and expertise within aviation.

Oppose 500KV Transmission Lines Proposed Through Western Loudoun and Waterford NHL

In late 2023, a proposal by NextEra Energy to put 500kV transmission lines through rural Loudoun was accepted by PJM Interconnection to support the growing power needs of the data center industry. These lines, as proposed, would go directly through agricultural areas (including DC Wine Country), protected open spaces, and protected historic areas like the Waterford National Historic Landmark. If constructed, these lines will have a serious and long lasting adverse effect to local economy, agriculture, communities, and preservation/conservation efforts. With that in mind, the Waterford Foundation Inc. convened the Loudoun Transmission Line Alliance (LTLA) in January 2024 to organize a concentrated opposition campaign with many other preservation, conservation, community, tourism, and business representative organizations. The LTLA's position is that all transmission lines should be built within existing power corridors. We call upon NextEra Energy to avoid building a new power corridor through rural Loudoun County in view of the negative impacts of such construction on the agricultural community, local economy, heritage and natural resources, and residents of the region. Below is a copy of the full Declaration. A PDF version is also available on our website.Declaration by the Loudoun Transmission Line Alliance on the NextEra MARL ProposalWe, the undersigned stakeholders, representing business, preservation, agricultural, environmental, and community organizations in Loudoun County, Virginia, call upon NextEra Energy to avoid building a new power corridor through rural Loudoun County, in view of the negative impact of such construction on the agricultural community, local economy, heritage and natural resources, and residents of the region. We strenuously oppose construction of new “greenfield” lines in rural areas of the County. All new transmission lines should be located within existing power corridors – which we understand would be acceptable to PJM. We also request that NextEra utilize existing rights of way and alternative methods, such as advanced conductors and the use of underground lines in highly populated areas, in order to meet the power needs of Loudoun’s data center industry. As currently configured, the proposed route will cause major collateral damage to existing local businesses, notably in the agricultural and tourism sectors, as well as to residential valuations. Power corridors must be sited to minimize the impact on existing businesses, including those dependent on intact open landscapes.Loudoun County remains a thriving agricultural region, with 1,332 farms accounting for $50 million in sales in 2022 alone. Moreover, Loudoun’s thriving equine industry has an annual economic impact of $180 million. The proposed lines also threaten Loudoun’s $4 billion tourism industry, including $400+ million in agritourism alone. Surveys show that the County’s landscapes, farms, wineries, breweries, and historic sites are a major draw for visitors. NextEra must account for its damage to these vital sectors of the economy.Historic and environmental sites, including landscapes, define the distinctive heritage of Loudoun County. In no instance should power corridors transit through or near National Historic Landmarks, historic districts, and other properties under conservation or preservation easem*nts. Loudoun boasts six National Historic Landmarks, seven county historic districts, and 4,426 easem*nts that safeguard important environmental and historic sites.Conservation and historic preservation easem*nts are legal deed restrictions that in Loudoun, are very site-specific and hence cannot be exchanged for uneased property. Easem*nt holders will vigorously defend these protections as any plan ignoring these protections will undermine the sanctity of easem*nts state-wide. A noteworthy example of local, state, and federal historic and environmental protections at risk is the Waterford National Historic Landmark. Waterford’s 1,420 acres are a rare instance of a fully intact 19th century community with scores of protected historic properties, agricultural land, natural habitats, and open spaces.New transmission corridors in rural Loudoun would directly threaten a number of eased sites, as well as prime farmland, waterways, habitats, open spaces, and historic properties. For NextEra, this is a commercial decision, but for Loudoun it’s existential. Save the Wild Horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park : In Support of Resolution 4014

This is an opportunity for people from around the United States and the globe to show their support of SCR 4014. You stand with the State of North Dakota in its fight to preserve the wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We, the undersigned, passionately believe in the preservation and protection of the iconic wild horses that have roamed freely in the breathtaking landscapes of Theodore Roosevelt National Park for generations. They are an integral part of the park's natural and cultural heritage, and we firmly stand in support of Senate Concurrent Resolution 4014.Background: Senate Concurrent Resolution 4014, a bipartisan effort, embodies the collective will of the people of North Dakota. It underscores the importance of safeguarding the wild horse population within Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and it was unanimously passed by both the House and Senate of North Dakota. This resolution recognizes the inherent value of these horses and their contribution to the park's historical and cultural significance. Why This Matters: The wild horses of Theodore Roosevelt National Park are not only a symbol of freedom but also play a crucial role in maintaining the park's ecological balance.

Urge St. Petersburg to Renegotiate Rays Hines Deal or Develop the 86 Acres Independently

(Once you sign, change.org will ask if you want to make a donation. No need to do this. The funds go to Change.Org. We are looking for signatures not funds.)Please sign our petition:The City of St. Petersburg, the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team and Hines, a real estate development company, are seeking City Council approval to redevelop the historic 86-acre Gas Plant site which currently includes Tropicana Field where the Rays play baseball. The development would include 64 acres for offices and businesses, residential properties (only a few of which will be considered affordable), a new Woodson African American Museum, and 22 acres for a new Rays stadium. But the costs fall disproportionally on taxpayers, to the tune of $2.4 billion.$1.66 billion from St. Petersburg taxpayers' that will be committed that would otherwise be available for other city priorities including storm water upgrades, housing, infrastructure, transportation, social services, a more significant commitment to the Black community, and tax relief. $808 million from Pinellas County taxpayers.Rays and Hines are buying the land well below its market value. The city does not receive any revenue from the stadium, including stadium naming rights and TV revenue, etc. The Rays ownership keeps all revenue. (The county receives an insignificant $1 million per year licensing payment.) The stadium property does not pay real estate taxes. No other area municipalities, including Tampa, share in the stadium cost, even though the entire Tampa Bay region benefits from retention of the Rays. The proposal jeopardizes St. Petersburg’s ability to borrow funds in the future for emergencies. The stadium is not needed to successfully develop the property. The increased traffic and parking congestion in the Gas Plant area from baseball will be a negative influence on development of the rest of the Gas Plant site and would be a headache to the residents and businesses in the surrounding area. The site is nationally significant due to its size and location in the heart of one of the most popular cities in Florida, in a vibrant walkable neighborhood. We love baseball, but this is not a fair deal. While it is a home run for Rays and Hines, it is not for St. Petersburg and Pinellas County. It should be renegotiated, or a more conventional “Do It Ourselves” development concept (with an estimated cost of $130 million to the city) should be considered, saving taxpayers $2.4 billion.$2.4 billion - This is a massive sum that could be allocated towards other pressing needs within our community such as hurricane-resistant storm water systems, education, job opportunities, affordable housing and upholding our commitment to the Black community. We must remember that St. Petersburg is home to over 250,000 residents who rely on public services funded by their tax dollars. Mandate Insurance Companies to Recognize Barostim Neo device as a Life-Saving Treatment

I am a 54-year-old Paramedic with 35 years of service. I have been diagnosed with Advanced Heart Failure, which has resulted in debilitating symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, cardiac arrhythmia, loss of work and increased hospitalizations. This condition has severely impacted my ability to carry out daily activities and be there for my wife, four children and grandson.Advanced Heart Failure affects approximately 6.4 million Americans who suffer from similar debilitating symptoms every day. A potential life-saving treatment exists - the Barostim Neo Implantation - which was approved by the FDA in 1999 as a breakthrough device. Despite this approval, many insurance companies including UMR and their parent company United Healthcare continue to deny coverage for this crucial treatment. The denial of coverage is not just an issue affecting me but millions across America who could benefit from this groundbreaking treatment. We urge United Healthcare and its UMR division along with all other insurance companies to recognize the importance of covering Barostim Neo Implantation for those suffering from Advanced Heart Failure. Please sign this petition to help us advocate for change that could save lives and improve the quality of life for millions living with Advanced Heart Failure.

In Support of Chicago Police Officer Eric Stillman

We sign this Petition in support of Chicago Police Officer Eric Stillman Star No. 19277 who the City of Chicago is seeking to terminate from his position as a Chicago Police Officer through an administrative hearing before the Chicago Police Board under case no. 23 PB 3025. We, as active and retired law enforcement officers, as citizens and members of the public, sign this Petition in a show of support for Officer Stillman and that he not be terminated as a result of the shooting of Adam Toledo. Officer Stillman, like all law enforcement officers, was placed in a deadly and dangerous situation when Adam Toledo turned in his direction with a gun in his hand on March 29, 2021. We ask the Chicago Police Board to hear our support of Officer Eric Stillman who has served the citizens of Chicago honorably, courageously and with distinction for over eight years. During his service as a Chicago Police Officer, he has been recognized by the Chicago Police Department no less than fifty-five times for his exceptional service which includes forty-three departmental Honorable Mentions, a Departmental Commendation, and the Chicago Police Superintend’s Award for Tactical Excellence. This is in addition to his service on behalf of the United States of America as a decorated United States Marine serving his country in combat. We are resolute in our support and undaunted in our belief that Chicago Police Officer Eric Stillman should be returned to service.

KEEP WESTMINSTER HILLS DOG PARK COMPLETELY OFF-LEASH!

The City of Westminster is proposing to change our 400+ acres of off-leash open space to 360 acres of on-leash open space to allowing us a mere 40 acres of off-leash area. This would effect approx 1 million annual visitors. Most importantly this would effect the local residents who visit this beloved park on a daily basis. This proposal would destroy our community of dog and open-space enthusiasts. The City’s proposal would condense the area and cause congestion of people and dogs with the increased potential for dog fights. We need to act quickly as this change is to be implemented in May 2024!

Halt the Approval of a Monster Apartment Complex in Solvang

The City of Solvang is considering approving a massive 105,000 square foot apartment complex on Alamo Pintado and Old Mission Road that is not consistent with the existing zoning or general plan. As tall as the Hollywood sign and twice as long and located across from the Nielsen Shopping Center and New Frontiers, this proposed development, consisting of 109 units, threatens to disrupt our peaceful community. As residents, we have serious concerns about the potential increase in traffic congestion, strain on local resources such as water supply and waste management systems, as well as the impact on our small-town charm that attracts tourists from all over the world. According to data from the U.S Census Bureau (2019), Solvang has a population of just under 6,000 people; this large-scale development could significantly alter our town's character. Nowhere else in Solvang does a development like this exist. We urge the city officials to listen to their constituents' voices who are opposed to this project. Please sign this petition if you believe that decisions about future developments should prioritize preserving our community's unique character over unchecked growth.

We Demand the Immediate Resignation of Key AMC Executives

As a deeply affected AMC shareholder, I am not alone in my plight. Millions of us have suffered considerable losses due to the actions of Adam Aron, CEO of AMC, Sean Goodman, CFO of AMC, Philip Lader, Lead Director of AMC's Board Directors and John Merriwether, VP of Capital Markets and Investor Relations for AMC. The time has come for these individuals to step down from their positions. Moreover, we demand that the company immediately sever all ties with Derek Van Zandt of Citigroup Global Markets and Himanshu Gulati of Antara Capital. Their involvement has only exacerbated our financial distress. We believe that new leadership can restore confidence among shareholders and potentially reverse this downward trend. We are not just numbers on a balance sheet - we are people who have invested our hard-earned money into this company believing in its potential growth.By signing this petition you're not only supporting fellow shareholders but also advocating for accountability at the highest levels within corporations. It's time to send a clear message - enough is enough! Please sign this petition today!

Say No to a Fairfax County Casino!

ALL NORTHERN VIRGINIA RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO SIGNWe, the concerned residents of Northern Virginia strongly oppose any efforts to bring a casino to our beloved community-- whether that's Reston or Tysons. We believe that introducing a casino would have detrimental effects on our area community's social fabric, safety, economic stability, and overall quality of life.1. Social Impact:A casino can lead to an increase in crime rates such as thefts, frauds, and even violent crimes. According to numerous studies conducted in various cities across the United States where casinos were introduced, crime rates have shown a significant rise within close proximity of these establishments.2. Economic Stability:Contrary to popular belief, casinos do not guarantee long-term economic growth or prosperity for local communities. Research has consistently shown that the introduction of casinos often leads to increased bankruptcy rates among local residents and small businesses due to gambling addiction and financial strain.3. Traffic Congestion:Reston snd Tysons are already facing traffic congestion issues during peak hours. The addition of a casino would only exacerbate this problem by attracting thousands of visitors daily who will contribute further strain on our roads and infrastructure.4. Negative Social Impacts on Vulnerable Communities:Casinos tend to disproportionately affect low-income individuals who are more susceptible to gambling addiction and its associated consequences such as financial ruin and family breakdowns.5. Distorted Local Economy:While proponents argue that casinos create jobs for local residents, these jobs are often low-paying with limited opportunities for advancement compared to other industries like technology or healthcare which could be better suited for Northen Virginia's workforce.6. Preservation of Community Values:Northern Virginia prides itself on being a family-friendly community with strong values rooted in education and cultural diversity rather than gambling and chance. A casino would undermine the very essence of our region's identity. We urge local authorities, including the Community Association Groups, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and other relevant decision-makers, to listen to the concerns of Northern Virginia residents and reject any proposals for a casino in our community. Petition for Special TPOA Meeting, Vote to Remove Amber Bracegirdle as TPOA President

The Timberwood Park Owner's Association (TPOA) current president refuses to accept a legal determination by the TPOA board attorney that Villas At Timberwood Park are not eligible to vote in TPOA HOA elections. This violates the TPOA President's oath of office and fiduciary responsibility to act in good faith and in the interest of TPOA members, rather than how the TPOA President personally feels and sympathizes with the Villas At Timberwood given their septic and sewer situation.Although the septic and sewer situation of the Villas At Timberwood is a terrible situation they do not deserve to suffer, they are ineligible to vote in TPOA elections.TPOA Members should sign this petition to compel a Special Meeting, upon which the purpose of the Special Meeting, is to cast a vote to have the current TPOA President removed for failure to uphold the TPOA President's responsibilities, that the TPOA President was elected to do by TPOA Members.TPOA Bylaws, Article III, Section A, Sub-Section 6: Removal of Directors and Vacancies:“Any director, elected by the Members may be removed, with or without cause, by the vote of Members holding a majority of the votes entitled to be cast for the election of such director.”This is more than "without cause."If you are a TPOA Member, please sign this petition.Per the TPOA Bylaws, Article II, Section D, Meetings: A Special Meeting can be called by a petition by at least 10% of the total votes of the Association.Again, the purpose of this Special Meeting, would be to cast a vote to remove current TPOA President Amber Bracegirdle not only as the President, but as a director on the TPOA board entirely. The justification for her removal is the following:1. Failure to uphold the TPOA Presidents responsibilities (bylaws Article III, C), for operating with highly unprofessional conduct, and failure to operate in the best interest on the community, without bias opinions/actions.2. Failure to provide timely financial statements to the residents and otherresponsibilities listed in the Bylaws Article III, C.

This violates the TPOA President's oath of office and fiduciary responsibility to act in good faith and in the interest of TPOA members, rather than how the TPOA President personally feels and sympathizes with the Villas At Timberwood given their septic and sewer situation.

Although the septic and sewer situation of the Villas At Timberwood is a terrible situation they do not deserve to suffer, they are ineligible to vote in TPOA elections.

TPOA Members should sign this petition to compel a Special Meeting, upon which the purpose of the Special Meeting, is to cast a vote to have the current TPOA President removed for failure to uphold the TPOA President's responsibilities, that the TPOA President was elected to do by TPOA Members.

TPOA Bylaws, Article III, Section A, Sub-Section 6: Removal of Directors and Vacancies:

“Any director, elected by the Members may be removed, with or without cause, by the vote of Members holding a majority of the votes entitled to be cast for the election of such director.”

This is more than "without cause."

If you are a TPOA Member, please sign this petition.

Per the TPOA Bylaws, Article II, Section D, Meetings: A Special Meeting can be called by a petition by at least 10% of the total votes of the Association.

Again, the purpose of this Special Meeting, would be to cast a vote to remove current TPOA President Amber Bracegirdle not only as the President, but as a director on the TPOA board entirely.

The justification for her removal is the following:

Merrick Garland: Do Your Job or Resign!

The Attorney General seems to be signaling that they can feel free to do the same thing on January 6, 2024. It’s time to face the hard truth: Merrick Garland’s inaction has, and continues to, enable Trump’s insurrection. He needs to do what is necessary to defend the 2024 election, or resign and make way for someone who will.

Merrick Garland: Do Your Job or Resign!

While Donald Trump has repeatedly smashed through the guardrails of our democracy, Merrick Garland has refused to repair them by holding the most powerful domestic terrorist in history, and his co-conspirators, criminally accountable for their actions.

With just 7 months remaining before a presidential election in which the survival of American democracy is at stake, our county can no longer endure the cowardly, insurrection-enabling of the weakest Attorney General in modern history.

We, the undersigned, join the Stop Trump Dictatorship Project’s call for Merrick Garland to either take the necessary steps to protect the 2024 presidential election from a second Trump coup conspiracy, or resign and allow President Biden to appoint a strong prosecutor to take his place.

If Merrick Garland prefers to protect this year’s presidential election from an imminent 2024 coup redo instead of resigning, These are the four urgent actions that are needed to counter Trump’s 2024 coup redo:

Initiate a federal prosecution of every individual in seven states who signed their names to fake election certificates sent to Congress.Federally prosecute, as domestic terrorists, all threats made against election officials anywhere in the United States.Plan and implement the deployment of federal marshals, F.B.I agents and National Guard forces to protect polling places and election officials this November.Indict Congress Members Paul Gosar and Andy Briggs, who conspired to introduce the forged election certificates in the House of Representatives on January 6, 2021.

The January 6 attack on the capitol to overturn the results of the 2020 election resulted in the most law enforcement injuries in American history.

Had Garland begun prosecuting Trump as soon as he took office on March 11, 2021, Donald Trump would most likely be in prison right now. Not inciting a second coup.

Garland promised to hold “all January 6th perpetrators, at any level, accountable under law — whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on our democracy.”

Then Garland refused to approve the open and shut prosecution of dozens of fake electors who signed their names to fraudulent certification documents.

According to a Washington Post exposé, “the attorney general’s determination to steer clear of any claims of political motive has chilled efforts to investigate the former president. “You couldn’t use the T word,” said one former Justice official briefed on prosecutors’ discussions.”

And so, knowing full well the timetable required to prosecute a former president for January 6 related crimes, Merrick Garland waited 20 months to conclude that Trump’s actions merited the naming of a special prosecutor.

It is as though Garland was not sure whether or not Trump was responsible for the capitol attack.

The absence of a Trump criminal conviction for January 6 has helped Trump convince 65% of Republicans of his enduring Big Lie: that Biden stole the 2020 election. As a result, many of them are also convinced that the January 6 “protest” was necessary-and might be necessary again next January if Trump does not win.

And so, less than seven months before November 5, the very situation that Liz Cheney recently warned against may happen. "It cannot be the case,” she said, “that a president of the United States can attempt to overturn an election and seize power and that our justice system is incapable of holding a trial and holding him to account before the next election."

Even Harvard Law Professor Lawrence Tribe, a past supporter, has lost confidence in Merrick Garland.

Reverse the Ban on Delta 8, 9, and 10 Sales in Greenville County, SC

My husband and I have found solace in the medicinal benefits of cannabis products available at our local smoke shops. The accessibility of these products has significantly improved our mental and physical health. However, the recent ban on Delta 8, 9, and 10 sales in Greenville County has deprived us of this safe access causing undue stress in our daily lives. This ban is not justified as a "health crisis." In fact, it pales in comparison to the real health crisis we are facing - the fentanyl crisis plaguing our county. According to data from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC), opioid-related deaths have been increasing year by year with fentanyl being a significant contributor. We believe that responsible adults should be able to make their own decisions about what they consume for their well-being. The ban on Delta variants seems more like an infringement on personal freedoms than a measure taken for public safety. We urge you to reconsider this decision that directly impacts many individuals like us who rely on these products for mental health support. Please reverse this ban and allow us access to safe alternatives that contribute positively towards our mental well-being.Sign this petition if you stand with us against this unjust prohibition!

Exempt Horseback Riding Lesson Facilities from Maryland Senate Bill 452

My daughter is an avid horse rider, learning and growing at a small local barn in our Maryland community. However, the introduction of Senate Bill 452 threatens her ability to continue this beloved activity. The financial implications of this bill could make it impossible for many families like ours to afford horseback riding lessons, as well as for new families to be able to participate.Senate Bill 452 imposes new regulations and associated costs on facilities that provide these lessons. While the intent behind the bill may be to ensure safety and quality standards, it inadvertently affects small businesses that are already operating under tight margins.According to the Maryland Horse Council, "we have over 800 licensed lesson and boarding stables and over 200 equine organizations state-wide. We have 58 licensed rescues and sanctuaries and 67 therapeutic riding centers, including over a dozen veterans programs." In fact, our state sport requires the ability to ride a horse! (https://mdhorsecouncil.org/about/industry-overview/ How many of these businesses will be lost due to the passage of this bill?Further, the recreational riding sector alone generates $421 million annually. The competition sector supports over 4,154 jobs in Maryland and has a $370 million annual economic impact on the state’s economy. We have FIVE international venues (https://mdhorsecouncil.org/about/industry-overview/ What will the overall economic impact be with the passage of this bill? This issue is not just a personal one for us, however. It's for farms that provide equine therapy services to a wide range of people from veterans with PTSD to nonverbal children with autism. It's for rescued animals that would physically suffer without having lesson barns to adopt them and provide them with a home where they can be loved and cared for and afford themselves veterinary care by being used as lesson horses. It's for rescues and sanctuaries that would be above capacity and would also suffer due to the number of suddenly unadoptable horses they would house and have to maintain. How else would they earn money to provide for those animals? They can’t use them to teach lessons because this bill makes that a much farther reach than is possible today. It's for children who learn to be part of something bigger than themselves. Who learn discipline, to care for an animal, to build the bonds of friendship and companionship, as well as a competitive spirit. When they are involved in this sport, they learn good decision-making skills. And it's for small business owners that would lose their livelihoods, their ability to provide for their families, and the personal satisfaction that comes from seeing people and animals thrive under their care.We ask you to stand with us in urging our representatives to reconsider aspects of Senate Bill 452 that will negatively impact so many citizens of our great state. On March 24, 2024, a group of folks purporting to be “Napoleon Ave Neighbors” started a petition seeking to have Ms. Mae’s declared a “nuisance business” by city council, over allegations related to adjacent crime, and complaints about the fact that Ms. Mae’s is open 24hrs a day.
