Nowadays, not only do male champions get the fun of great anxiety of having a Money in the Bank contract holder creeping over your neck. This year, we have Alexa Bliss, Asuka, Naomi, Nikki A.S.H., Liv Morgan, Zelina Vega, Natalya & Tamina in the field. Some former champions, but a lot of potential for someone to really break out in the women’s division. Every single woman who has won the briefcase, has become champion, with Asuka & Bliss as former winners. Asuka was the winner last year, and didn’t get a contract but rather the RAW Women’s Championship itself as Becky Lynch vacated due to pregnancy.
Alexa Bliss Tries To Use Her Powers
After an array of eye popping entrances, everyone would square up and look at the briefcase, before splitting off to grab some ladders. Bliss just hung out in the corner and watched as everything started, staying out of the mess while ladders got into the ring. She tried to use some magic powers to take the briefcase down, before she was taken out by Asuka. A series of signature moves started with Vega and ended with Tamina, before Bliss hopped onto her back.
Bliss was thrown to the mat and slingshotted face first into a ladder, before Tamina went to set up a ladder. Morgan would climb the ladder in the process, only stopped by Vega before both ladies got crushed by Tamina in the corner. The ladder was set up before Asuka got into the mix and took Tamina down with a big dropkick. Asuka dropped the ladder on the chest of Tamina before starting the climb, but the power of Tamina saw her tilt the ladder until Morgan hopped on.
Morgan would be shoved off by Natalya, before they’d battle over the ladder in a tug-o-war. Nikki would get inbetween and get taken out, before Naomi would get in and take a Samoan Drop off the ladder from Tamina. Vega & Asuka worked to take Tamina out on the outside, and back in the ring Bliss took out Natalya who had trapped Morgan in the corner.
Natalya dropped Bliss with a suplex and Bliss laughed it off before hitting a drop toehold onto the ladder. Morgan was thrown to the mat and hit with a flip senton. Bliss set the ladder up, only for Vega to climb faster. When she was met by Bliss, Bliss seemed to hypnotize Vega before Natalya prevented the victory.
Nikki A.S.H Ignores The Mess
Natalya hit a powerbomb and Vega snapped out of it, before hitting anyone still moving, until Naomi took her out. Naomi would be met by the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, only to hit a double stunner. Nikki would come into the ring and get slammed onto a ladder before Naomi hit the split legdrop. Natalya once again made a defense play, before climbing the ladder. Zelina hopped onto her back, but Natalya kept climbing.
Morgan would stop Zelina from getting the contract as Natalya nearly got choked out. A brawl broke out in the ring, before Nikki took to sky like a superhero from a ladder into the ring onto everyone. She’d set the ladder up, but was stopped by her old friend Bliss. They’d trade forearms in the ring, before Bliss hit a Sister Abigail DDT. Natalya & Tamina stopped her from climbing up, before everyone piled ladders onto her.
Back in the ring, Morgan set up the ladder and tried to win the match. She was stopped by Tamina before hitting a hurricanrana and stomping her out, only to be stopped by Natalya. The ring was starting to fill with ladders, and Morgan kept the offense coming. Naomi & Morgan climbed ladders, with everyone but Bliss coming shortly after. The briefcase was swinging wildly, but Nikki grabbed the contract to win! She ignored the mess and focused on the win, getting the biggest of her career.
An exciting but very by the numbers ladder match. NIkki getting the win was fantastic, Natalya was the MVP with her defensive plays, and Morgan showed just how far she’s come. Some like Asuka & Naomi got lost in the shuffle, but everyone got atleast a spot or two to shine. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
