Mex outfit links!

Last week I was so lucky to have been invited to Mexico with Tequila Ocho and boy, oh boy was that a fun time! They were unveiling their stunning new bottle (and they made a point to let us know with this bottle upgrade they were not going to increase the price… that’s a plus!) While I was out there, I took some photos/videos of what I was wear and I had some ask if I had links. So, I’ve done my best to link my outfits from the trip below (I know, who is she? I don’t know either)

Upcoming travel links

This week I will be, surprise… surprise, traveling again. I can’t say why I’ll be in Philly but I’m so excited to be going to New York City with my mom FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME WITH HER. Iykyk NYC is quite possibly one of my favorite places and so this will be so so special to do it with her. Does anyone have tickets to Cabaret?! Because holy smokes is that show sold out… so we’ll see where we end up! In the meantime, here are some Google Maps places I’ve created.

Citrus Zest Ideas

We love a good salt rim, or even a sugar rim for our sweetner concoctions, but what about getting the most out of our citrus and zesting the skin before we use the citrus to juice! Think, a lime zest and kosher salt rim for your margarita. You may think this is extra, but I think it’s the right amount of zest to put a little pep in that step! Now, you can do it one of two ways, on the fly aka using fresh zest OR you can take the extra step to dehydrate your citrus ahead of time. Dehydrating your citrus zest will actually make the salt or sugar mixture more flavorful, but again it’s up to you! Store your margarita salt in an airtight container on the counter or in a cool, dry place (where you store your spices)

Here are some tips for using dried citrus zest to rim a glass:

  • Use a microplane: Zest an orange, lemon, lime, etc. with a microplane.

  • Dry in the oven: Preheat the oven to 200°F on convection settings. Place the citrus on a baking tray for approx 2 hours.

  • Massage with sugar or salt: Add the zest to a bowl and massage it with sugar until you get a wet sand texture.

Citrus zest mixture ideas:

  • Spicy mixture:

    • 1 tablespoon flaky sea salt

    • 1 tablespoon chipotle chili powder

    • 1 tablespoon citrus zest, lime or grapefruit!

  • Sweet & salty

    • 1 tablespoon flaky sea salt

    • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar

    • 1 tablespoon citrus zest, lime or orange!

  • Hibiscus Rim sweet or salty

    • 1 tablespoon flaky sea salt, or sugar

    • 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers

    • 1 tablespoon dried citrus zest, like lime or grapefruit!

      • You’ll want to muddle or use a food processor to combine the dried hibiscus.

  • Sweet Cinnamon Rim

    • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar

    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    • 1 tablespoon citrus zest, orange!

  • Lemon sugar rim (great for a lemondrop!)

    • 1 tablespoon white granulated sugar

    • 1 tablespoon citrus zest, lemon!

The ultimate main squeeze recipes

Here’s a recipe I’ve been thinking about making… frozen aperol spritz - now I know what you’re thinking.. jules we’ve done this. But I’ve seen a trend where you put your stemless glass balanced on an ice cube mold at an angle and you let the liquid freeze to create ice inside your glass… right? Well, what if we mixed fresh orange juice, soda water, and aperol together… froze that on one side of the glass… and then when ready we poured in prosecco! It’s like a frozen aperol spritz cube built right into the glass! My wheels are turning… WHAT IF YOU DOUBLED UP. What if we made the frozen aperol mixture (aka ice on the side of the glass) and STILL built an aperol spritz inside our glass? Wow! Okay, I think we should all try this and you tell me which is your favorite. Will have a full recipe video up soon!

Now, onto some GOOD citrus co*cktails: The Sidecar, The Garibaldi, Grapefruit sour (join jules original), and of course your whiskey/lemon co*cktails! Plus, new recipe coming this week I’ll share with you NOW

The Sidcar, one of my all time favorites
