CLEMSON OVERVIEW

Overall record: 44-14
Conference record: 20-10ACC
D1Baseball RPI: No. 8
All-time record against Florida: 12-18; The Gators and Tigers will meet for the first time since Feb. 27, 1983, when they take the field for the first time on Saturday
Key stat: Clemson freshman rightyAidan Knaak has pitched at least six innings while allowing two or fewer earned runs in eight of his 14 starts, including both of his last two appearances. Among Division I pitchers whohave thrown at least 100 changeups in 2024, Knaak ranks fourth nationally in whiff rate on the pitch.

ON THE MOUND

With a 4.50 team ERA through 58 games this season, Clemson enters the Super Regional round ranked No. 24 among all Division I programs in the category, a sign of its general consistency and efficacy on the mound, which has spanned the entire year.

The Tigers have demonstrated a keen ability togain outs via strikeout (23.7 percent strikeout rate which ranks No. 32 in the country) while limiting their free passes about as well as any team in the nation at just 9.8 percent, which ranks No. 5 among remaining postseason teams and No. 58 nationally on the year.

The first twospotsin Clemson's weekend rotation, which have been occupied by lefty Tristan Smith and righty Aidan Knaak, respectively, have been synonymous with quality pitching for the vast majority of the year and especially so in recent weeks.

A 6-foot-2, 195-pound southpaw fromBoiling Springs, South Carolina, Smith suffered an ankle injury in March that forced him to miss over a month of action. When healthy, though, the second-year Tiger has been quite effective, pitching to the tune of a 3.88 ERA in 46.1 innings with an impressive 62 strikeouts against29 walks. Opposing batters are hitting .244 against Smith, who delivery 5.1 innings with nine strikeouts and one earned run allowed in Clemson's tournament opener against High Point on May 31.

Smith's fastball sits between 91-93 mph and can tough 96, though he'll maintain the lower 90s velocity with much more consistency. Smith's best pitch is his slider, which he'll throw to both sides of the plate with success.

AT THE PLATE

Clemson's offensive firepower this season is undeniable, especially in the confines of its home ballpark, Doug Kingsmore Stadium, which is just 390 feet deep to dead center.

The Tigers rank No. 38 nationally in total runs scored, No. 39 in hits, No. 27 in home runs and No. 53 in battingaverage on balls in play. Clemson has also demonstrated the ability to create offense on the bases with 58 stolen bases as a team, a modest number when compared to the entire country but a solid showing for an offense that relies more on its power than anything.

Blake Wright (21) andJimmy Obertop (20) rank first and second on the team, respectively, in home runs whileJacob Hinderleider (13) andCam Cannarella (10) have also reached double digits.

Cannarella, the Tigers' center fielder, is one of the focal points of his team's lineup and defensive success. The sophom*ore fromHartsville, South Carolina, is pacing his team in batting average (.343) and ranks third in on-base percentage.

Clemson outfielder Alden Mathes has also ranked among the nation's best defenders with 13.48 defensive runs saved.
