Beauty expert reveals the products you should avoid at TJ Maxx (2024)

An esthetician and beauty expert has revealed four products at TJ Maxx that customers should never buy.

Isabella Traboscia posted a TikTok video on July 3 featuring the names of products that shoppers should not purchase at the store.

Traboscia couldn't wait for the 'hate comments' she knew she'd receive for all four products, one of which was from the Kylie Jenner skincare collection.

She considered each of the products to be an 'esthetician's nightmare' and even called one of the products 'trash.'

The esthetician revealed the four nightmare products were from these ingredients and brands: Retinol, KylieSkin, Mario Badescu, and Conair.

Retinol Makeup Removing Cleansing Wipes were a big no for the beauty expert.

'Why does your makeup remover need Retinol,' she wrote in the video.

The wipes were released under Precision Beauty - a brand specializing in makeup applicators, blenders, facial products, and cleansers.

The makeup remover has gotten good reviews in the past, and one customer called the product 'fast and official' in a review she wrote on Influenster last year.

However, a company that spoke highly of retinol also revealed it does not provide the makeup cleanoff that a consumer hoped for.

'Does retinol remove makeup? Well, folks, it’s about as capable of that as a goldfish biking the Tour de France,' read SeoulCeuticalsin April 2024.

'Retinol, in essence, is a beauty prodigy but certainly no makeup remover.'

All Traboscia could say about the KylieSkin Clarifying Exfoliating Toner in her video was that the product is an 'immediate no.'

The product is described as a 'power-packed formula that helps clarify, minimize the appearance of pores, and balance the skin' on Kylie Cosmetics.

Verified Kylie Cosmetics purchasers spoke highly of the product over the last couple of months, and one person revealed that the toner made their skin 'feel really fresh and glowing.'

However, a Reddit user who dragged the skincare products two years ago wrote that it 'won't work miracles' for consumers with cystic acne, hyper-pigmentation, or scarring.

'I applied it, and it felt fine, but it didn't soak in very well, and it made my skin oiler even though it's a clarifying toner,' an Ulta Beauty consumer and Kentucky resident wrote in May.

In the words of the beauty expert, the 'trash skincare' that TJ Maxx shoppers should avoid is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater.

The product is meant to re-energize skin, and it's an ideal product for all skin types, according to the company website.

A consumer in New York even spoke highly of the product in a comment yesterday and wrote that the smell is 'awesome and refreshing.'

However, the 2013 class action lawsuit temporarily tarnished the Mario Badescu brand after the steroid ingredient in its products was not disclosed on the label.

The lawsuit also said that steroids could be 'harmful to your skin when not prescribed by a doctor.'

The lawsuit reached a settlement, and the company agreed to eliminate off-label steroids from all its product formulas.

Traboscia later dissed the True Glow by Conair Microdermabrasion Rechargeable Beauty Tool due to what it can do to a consumer's skin.

'I just know whoever is purchasing it will destroy their skin barrier and bruise their face,' the esthetician wrote.

Consumers who reviewed the product on the Conair website sadly revealed in the comment section that they were victims of the skin mayhem that Traboscia mentioned.

'I ended up with bruising on my nose. I used the second and the first setting. It did not really remove that much gunk,' a reviewer wrote in 2020.

'I read that bruising does happen for some people it is permanent damage, and they need a laser to fix it. After the bruising, I had to ice my nose.'

TikTok users who commented on Traboscia's seemingly agreed with her statements on the products, many of them being divided on the KylieSkin product.

TikTok users who commented onTraboscia's video had mixed reactions about the KylieSkin product, and several commenters claimed the product worked well for them

'Unpopular opinion - the KylieSkin moisturizer is actually one of the best I’ve used,' a TikTok user wrote in the comment section.

Others agreed with that user's statement, and more than one person noted that 'not everyone’s skin is the same.'

'My esthetician said those Mario Badescu sprays are fine to use,' another commenter wrote.

However, one TikToker who claimed to be a beauty expert like Traboscia advised that commenter to search for another professional.

'I would find a new esthetician. She probably hasn’t looked at the formulation and ingredients,' wrote the expert.

'I'm an esthetician myself, and I have never met another esthetician who approves of Mario.'
